Community Sacco Curtain Wall
A full-height reflective glass curtain wall wrapping the first floor of a working Sacco branch.
The brief
Overview
The Sacco was adding a first floor above a branch that could not close for a single trading day. We fabricated and installed a reflective glazed curtain wall across the full frontage, working around live banking hours and an active building site below.
The challenge
The branch stayed open throughout. Scaffolding had to clear the public walkway, and the existing concrete beam was out of level by almost 40mm across the span — enough to throw the whole grid out if we had built to nominal dimensions.
What we did
We surveyed the beam and set the aluminium grid off a true datum rather than the concrete, taking up the discrepancy in a packed head channel hidden behind the transom. Glazing was lifted and set outside banking hours over four evenings.
